CBS News cameraman Paul Douglas and soundman James Brolan are dead, and reporter Kimberly Dozier is in critical but stable condition, following a roadside bomb attack Monday on their convoy in Iraq.
According to CBS News, the three were embedded with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division for a "routine" story. They left their armored vehicle when their convoy stopped at a checkpoint in the Karada district of Baghdad. At that time, a nearby car packed with explosives detonated.
One U.S. soldier was also killed. Six others were wounded, according to reports.

Brolan, 42, and Douglas, 48, were both veterans of conflict journalism. Douglas worked for CBS News for over a decade in countries such as Afghanistan, Bosnia and Rwanda. Brolan was a freelancer who worked with CBS News in Afghanistan as well as Iraq over the past year.
Dozier, 39, has been with CBS News since 1996, and is a conflict-journalism veteran as well. The courageous, award-winning correspondent has been reporting on the war in Iraq for the past three years. She has also served as chief Middle East correspondent for WCBS-TV, and London bureau chief and chief European correspondent for CBS Radio News.
Dozier initially was evacuated to a U.S. military hospital in Baghdad, where she underwent two surgeries to remove shrapnel.
She is now at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at the Ramstein Air Force base in Germany, where she continues to receive treatment. CBS News reports that Dozier is awake, alert and eating solid food.
Kevin Sites in the Hot Zone extends our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of Paul Douglas and James Brolan. We express our hope for a full recovery for Kimberly Dozier.
